Chief William "Bill" Briscoe is responsible for the daily operations of Sanibel Fire & Rescue District. This includes all aspects of emergency response, facility concerns, and general oversight of shift personnel.
Chief Briscoe graduated from Berry College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology. After graduation, he embraced his love for science and helping people by joining Lee County EMS. Here he spent 3 years alongside paramedics, EMTs, and firefighters. During this time he decided to continue his education and received his Structure Firefighter certification. In 2000 he joined Sanibel Fire & Rescue District. Currently, Chief Briscoe holds certifications as Fire Officer I & II, Fire Service Instructor III, Fire Safety Inspector I & II, Fire Investigator I & II, Paramedic, and Certified District Manager. He has a long, full career in emergency services and has promoted through the ranks to become the Fire Chief of Sanibel Fire and Rescue District in October 2020.
