The newest fire station on the Island was just recently completed in September, 2005. The old facility was demolished in July of 2004, since the building had become outdated and was very limited on space. The new facility was designed by Architect Joseph St. Cyr and is a state of the art facility that will carry the District into the new millennium. The facility houses the Administrative offices, Fire Prevention, Fire and Medical Training. The grounds have a three story training building to allow Firefighters to conduct training drills on Island. Also included at the site is a landing pad for Lee County Emergency Medical Service’s helicopter to transport sick or injured patients. The fire station is staffed by a Captain and three firefighters with Advanced Life Support
(ALS) non-transport capabilities. Lee County Emergency Medical Service houses two personnel with ALS transport capabilities.
